My Hair Inspiration For Life

The feather hair by Farrah Fawcett.💜

I always had great hair. It is kind of wavy, thin but full at the same time, a very versatile kind of hair, the type of hair that stays in any way I style it. With no fuss. And no frizz. Most of the time. And yes, I went through a phase where my hair started to fall out a lot, more than it should and instead of having a full lioness hair that I was so used to, I got this very demure frame for my face. Yep, it was probably due to perimenopause and menopause and a low ferritin level and a slowing down thyroid but also (or mainly) because of my B12 deficiency and its side effects.

Anyways, now my hair is back to its full times (although lately I think it is falling out way too much and because of that I am investigating. Hehehe But it is true.) and I am reconsidering going back to my favorite haircut ever: the Farrah Fawcett feather hair. I started wearing it on my early teen years. And from then, every now and then again and every time I need a haircut that represents who I am so well, I go back to Farrah’s hair. It is my comfort cut. Like it, love it, adore it. I feel myself like no other haircut. Plus, it works for me. So. Damn. Well.

Some of my feather hair versions through time. 😊

Right now, I am thinking about cutting Farrah’s way. The only problem: to find a hairdresser who can actually give me the right cut. Not every one can manage to do it. And that is a pity. Because this haircut is a bomb. When it is done right.

Right?

And how about your haircut? Which one is your comfort cut?

A Vegan Brand I Love: Sukin

One of the things I like to do the most when I travel abroad is to find out different beauty products. I love to try new things and love, love, love moisturizers, serums, body and face scrubs and the whole she bangs. And when I was in New Zealand a few years ago I got to know this Australian brand called Sukin over a Pharmacy counter. Back then I was trying to recover from my B12 deficiency and I was avoiding the most I could extra toxins, so I was very much into using natural products with safer chemicals that would not jeopardize my health. And Sukin seemed to check all those boxes with some really good pluses: it was cruelty free, vegan and amazingly affordable. So I decided to try a few products (shampoo, conditioner, body scrub, body wash, and a clay mask from their Super Greens line). And loved them all. The shampoo, conditioner and body smell so good and they clean in a gentle way. So the body scrub. The clay mask is one of my favorite masks ever. I feel it helps detoxifying my skin and at the same time it nourishes it. It feels like skin food, indeed. It made my skin looks clean, healthy and glowing.

My beloved Detoxifying Clay Mask by Sukin.

My Favorite Body Scrub

In the past I thought exfoliating was only meant to be done once or twice a week. But from some years on I have heard people (mainly celebrities like Christie Brinkley and Gwyneth Paltrow) claiming that you should scrub every day. Your face and body. And honestly, I am very inclined to think that this is a good way to go. Because besides the fact that it gives the skin a smooth feeling afterwards, it also helps to: make serums or moisturizers being better absorbed by our skin, fight dark and age spots, minimize the appearance of large pores, prevent ingrown hair.

Plus, nowadays there are scrub versions that help to hydrate and moisturizer the skin as well. And my favorite body scrub is by a small shop in Brooklyn that uses only finest natural and organic products called Soap Cherie. I use the Coconut Lime one and love it. But there are other scented (and even one unscented) versions like Magnolia, Lavender Patchouli, Orchid and Morning Rose too. They are all made with Dead Sea Salt and formulated with 21 minerals and a variety of nourishing oils including Jojoba oil and Calendula oil to provide a deep exfoliation and nourish the skin.

So, after you do the exfoliating procedure you get smooth, hydrated baby feeling skin. I swear! When you use it you definitely feel the difference it makes on your skin. It is amazing and it smells so good…

Every time I am in New York I get this scrub. Now I am in Rio without it and missing it so much since my scrub stash is over and they do not deliver overseas. Damn!

That MakeUp

This year’s Oscars were full of great red carpet moments. Loved many of the dresses and the tuxes (oh-my-God-Billy-Porter!) and the jewelry… Although all those things I am never gonna have the chance to wear, one thing that I could is this stunning makeup worn by the gorgeous Gemma Chan. It is a simple, elegant cat eye with a dash of green on it. It looks stunning.

Next night out occasion I am definitely try that makeup!

Using And Loving It: Vichy’s Minéral 89

Since I came back to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and found out that I cannot buy my beloved moisturizer here, I am on a mission: to find a real good replacement for it. Don’t know if Vichy’s Minéral 89 is it yet (I have been using it for 3 weeks only) but it is a good contestant. And to be honest, it is a product that I might even use together with my beloved moisturizer. And let me tell you why:

Vichy’s Minéral 89

This moisturizer is a gel that resonates a lot like a serum, it is lightweight, absorbs fast and very well by the skin. It doesn’t get oily, just a bit sticky after you pat it on. The skin looks healthy and hydrated. And yes, it glows on its own.

I wear it day and night. During the day I pat my tonic in my skin first then the Minéral 89 gel and sometimes a moisturizer after that. Then my sunblock. And my beloved tinted sunscreen.

See? I love to wear double products at once… hehehe

At night I clean my skin, pat my tonic on it and use the Minéral 89 gel before my hydrating sleeping mask.

I know (and if you have been reading me you know that too): I am a moisturizer freak. But as I said before: keep the skin always hydrated is key to age well. Indeed.

What Vichy says about Mineral 89:

Minéral 89 is your skin’s daily dose of strength, combining 15 Mineral Rich Water with Hyaluronic Acid to fortify skin and make it more resistant to visible aging caused by pollution, stress to skin, and fatigue. Minéral 89 face moisturizer, with 89% Mineralizing Thermal Water, delivers a boost of hydration for a vibrant, healthy glow.

It is meant to be used by all skin types and it is indicated especially to address dryness and dullness. It is paraben and fragrance free and tested for sensitive skin. Its delicate formula it is well tolerated around the delicate eye area.

The Mineral 89 gel has 4 different sizes: 10 ml, 30 ml, 50 ml and 75 ml. And the price is not so bad: 30 ml bottle is $20. You can buy the smaller bottle and give it a try without causing a wallet commotion.
