Keep Yourself Hydrated

I already told you about my crush on moisturizer. But I am also very enthusiastic about keeping my inner body hydrated. I know it is a cliché but I do believe that we need to nourish ourselves inside first. Without it, no matter what we do outside, the outcome is never gonna be optimal, to say the least.

Add some flavor to your water could help to drink plenty of water daily.

Our body, aka this wonderful and powerful machine uses water in all its cells, organs, and tissues to help regulate its temperature and maintain other bodily functions. All those functions require water, plus we loose water breathing, sweating, and digesting food, therefore it’s super important to rehydrate by drinking fluids and eating foods that contain water, like soups, some vegetables like zucchini, for instance.

The amount of water everyone needs vary according a number of factors, such as the climate one lives in, how much one sweats, how physically active a person is and whether or not someone is having heath issues or a disease. And because of that one thing I do since ever is to drink some liquid all along the whole day. I try my best to never feel thirsty. And for that I drink lots of tea, kombucha, coconut water and water. Those are my fixes. And it has been for years. And I do believe it has helped my skin looking pretty good, my metabolism, my digestion… And speaking of digestion, keeping ourselves hydrated could help you to deal with constipation, a common feature among us, menopausers and perimenopausers.

And how ab out you? How do you keep yourself hydrated from inside out? Let’s talk.

Using Henna To Enhance The Eyebrows

And this method is called Henna brows. This is a non-permanent brow filling that I ended up trying a few days ago when I went to the lady who usually does my brows and she suggested I gave it a try. And she did, because this time the end of my eyebrows were kind of thinner than their usual. The thing is I only do my brows professionally every few months and in between sessions I keep them “groomed”myself. I pluck around and cut the hair close to my eyebrows shape, but only the ones I believe shouldn’t be there. And I cut instead of plucking just in case I am wrong. This time I guess I cut way too much. Hehehe

Anyways, up to this moment I hadn’t heard of henna brows. I knew about tattooing the skin with henna but not the brows. What happen here is that you also dye the skin, not the hair. The henna pigment stain the skin beneath your brow hair, giving the impression you have a more defined, perfect eyebrow, with no flaw or sparseness. Also it can give them a fuller vibe.

Me and my Henna Brows.

In another words, your eyebrows stand out a little more. And it does look very natural. Even more than when you use make up for it.

By the way, henna is a natural dye made from a plant known as hina or the henna tree. Henna has been around since ancient Egyptian times when it was used for many purposes such as dyeing hair, clothes, fabrics and as make up.

The henna brow process is quick and safe, although, if it is your first time using henna, before applying it straight to your eyebrows you should test to see whether or not you are allergic to it. You never know until you use it.

And yes, it is a better idea to go to a professional to do it for you. The session can last up to 15 minutes. Mine took around 5 cause I wanted a very light touch for my first time. Plus I do think that something too strong can frame even more the little imperfections I’d rather conceal like wrinkles and spots.

The Henna Brows lasts around 10 to 15 days. After that, it fades away. To keep it for longer it is better not to wash or exfoliate the eyebrow area.

Although I never tried tattooing or microblading, I believe, for what I have seen around, this is a good and more natural looking alternative to fill your brows. And you can have perfect eyebrows all day long for up to 2 weeks with no make up retouching. And if you don’t like the results, in 2 weeks will go away.

Beauty Tip: Wear A Bra To Sleep

Of course I am not talking about any bra, but a comfy one. Forget about underwired ones and those that get too tight that you don’t breathe well. Bet instead in a bralette or a sports bra that give you some support and yet is super comfy that you don’t feel as if you are wearing one. Like the ones in the photo below.

And this is one of those beauty tips I wish I had known before around the time I started developing my breasts in my teen years. And I do because I feel ever since I started doing it in my late 20s I noticed that the wrinkles between my breasts which were starting to bother me cause they were becoming more visible froze in time ever since.

Plus I must confess that at one point back then sleeping with no bra was not comfortable for me at all. With my bralette was way better. And this type of bra is the bra I usually wear at home ever since. It gives me enough support with the feeling that I am almost braless. Love it.

I guess wearing a bra all day (and night) long has helped me to be at the age of 47 with perky boobs. True that I never had kids but still, that was not on its own a guarantee to keep it up, anyways.

And how about you? Do you sleep in your bra?

How To Make Scars Fade

Last year I fell on uneven concrete floor and injured pretty bad my left knee. It was an ugly and an almost to the bone deep wound. I knew it will take a while to heal (it took about two months to completely close) and even more time for me to get rid of that nasty scar. And it is taking. But I am counting with some real good allies to heal it properly: a scar gel (Mederma Advanced Scar Gel) and a scar patch (ScarWay Silicone Scar Sheets).

First I started using the gel alone and as soon as I found out about the silicone patches I started using it. And they were great to make my high and thick scar fade and get lighter as well. In the past months the nasty purple scar turn into a pinkish scar that day by day gets lighter. Now I am back to the gel. I think the patch is great to make it gets flatter and the gel helps a lot to kind of erase it, if you know what I mean.

There are many other products, even serums to use in recent or old scars. They tend to do their jobs pretty well. I don’t know if my scar is gonna fade entirely. I will only know in a few months. My dermatologist told me that those deep kind of scars take about a year and a half to actually fade and only then I will know. But so far I am really happy the way it is compared to how it was. Plus, I have to confess that I am kind of attached to it now. It is part of who I am and it was part of my awakening year, so…

By the way, you can find them in any Drugstore or at the Amazon.

My Two Favorite OverNight Masks

And I am talking about two different kind of masks. Although they are both to sleep with.

The first one is a moisturizer mask called Drink Up Intensive by Origins. You can put on your skin a generous amount (I am always very generous with my moisturizers and sunscreens) before going to bed and let it work its magic during the night. No need to rinse. Not even in the morning. At least I don’t (and the reason why is here). It doesn’t have a color and it feels like you put on moisturizer and nothing else. The skin absorbs it all straight up. Having said that, the result lasts way more than a simple moisturizer, even if it is my powerful and beloved Aqua Bomb from Belif. And it does not feel greasy at all. In any moment.

As you can see by the post above, I am an enthusiast of moisturizer. I do think our skin needs a great moisturizer more than any other product. Too bad I only realized that in my 40s… Anyways, since then my main goal is to keep my skin always hydrated, no matter what. I think that is the secret to keep it looking good. And that is why I really like this mask. My skin feels highly hydrated during the night and when I wake up. I even use this mask during the day when I feel my skin need extra dose of moisturizer, like after sun tanning or during the winter days.

What Origins says about it:

  • It is recommended for normal to dry skin types. (My skin is normal to oily and I think it works great for me.)
  • It hydrates thirsty skin (love that and I confess that this was its selling point that made me give it a try).
  • It is enriched with avocado and apricot kernel oils, which effectively prepare skin for next-day environmental aggressors.
  • Japanese seaweed repairs the skin’s barrier function to prevent future dehydration and signs of premature ageing.
  • The overnight mask soothes skin whilst you sleep for long-lasting comfort so you can wake up to a revitalized, silky smooth and refreshed complexion.
  • Free from parabens, sulphates and phthalates.

I think they now have a new improved formula to this mask that I haven’t tried yet, but I am looking forward to. Only hope it is as good as the previous one.

The other mask is an actually sleeping mask. It is called Iluminage Skin Rejuvenating Eye Mask. It is silky and soft and it is for sure the most comfortable sleeping mask I have ever tried. Plus it does black out the light perfectly. Besides that this mask has a rejuvenating element since it is embedded with Copper Dioxide. The idea is to give you a good night of sleep AND minimize the appearance of the wrinkles during the night.

Let’s see what Iluminage says about it:

  • This rejuvenating sleep mask covers your delicate eyes with advanced care, to minimize the appearance of wrinkles while you sleep.
  • Beyond blocking all visual stimuli to quiet your mind and senses, this silky, soft, smart textile is carefully embedded with copper, a well-known essential mineral with skin-enhancing properties. This technology is clinically proven to help reduce the appearance of wrinkles for smoother, younger-looking skin in as little as four weeks. Copper is naturally found in your skin and is known to play an important role in skin’s renewal process. It has been used in makeup, face creams and other skincare products for years, and one of its properties is its ability to promote the natural growth of proteins in the skin.
  • How to use: Sleep with your eye mask nightly for younger-looking skin in as little as four weeks. One size fits all.
  • Adjustable hook-and-loop closure strap.
  • Non-irritating.
  • Color and anti-aging technology proven to last beyond100 washes.
  • 100% Cupron® copper oxide polyester.
  • Hand wash, dry flat.

To be honest, I don’t know if this mask is helping me with my wrinkles and all, yet. I have been using it for almost 4 weeks. But it feels really good to sleep in. Because of the copper, it does get stained in the white part all around the mask but it doesn’t bother me at all.

An update on this mask report on April 21st: I still don’t know if this mask is helping with wrinkles but one thing I noticed is that it stains the pillow case I sleep in. So, this is a major no-no. Even so, I am still using to sleep because it is a very comfy mask to sleep in.
